Most pre-filled electric towel rails arrive ready to install with a sealed blend of water and anti-corrosion glycol. The fluid level is set at the factory and does not require topping up during normal use. Dual-fuel models may require filling if switching between electric and central heating operation.
A dual-fuel towel rail operates on either an electric element or connected into a central heating wet system. In summer the electric element runs the rail independently; in winter it can use the central heating circuit. The electric element connects to a nearby fused spur and can be fitted by a competent DIYer or electrician.
