Adax Neo Wi-Fi and Home Assistant, tested.
Can you run an Adax Neo Wi-Fi heater from Home Assistant? Yes. We connected one in our own office, read the room temperature and changed the setpoint from Home Assistant’s cloud connection. Here is how to set it up, and how the cloud and local options differ.
Yes, it works.
Home Assistant has a built-in Adax integration. You do not need a custom add-on, a bridge or a hub.
We tested it in October 2026 on an Adax Neo Wi-Fi wall heater with a second-generation Wi-Fi thermostat. Home Assistant read the room temperature and the target temperature, and when we changed the target temperature through the same connection, the heater took the new setting.
One thing to expect: in cloud mode, a change made in Home Assistant goes via Adax’s servers, so it can take a minute or two to reach the heater. For heating that is rarely a problem, but it is worth knowing before you build automations around it.
Cloud or local.
When you add the Adax integration, Home Assistant asks which kind of connection you want. They behave quite differently.
| Cloud | Local | |
|---|---|---|
| How it connects | Through your Adax account and Adax’s servers | Directly to the heater on your home network |
| Needs the internet | Yes | No, once it is set up |
| Adax Wi-Fi app | Keeps working alongside Home Assistant | Stops working, as cloud communication is turned off |
| Energy monitoring | Yes, per heater, ready for the Energy dashboard | No |
| Which heaters | Adax Wi-Fi heaters on your Adax account | Newer Adax heaters with both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi |
| What you need | Account ID and an API password from the app | A Bluetooth adapter on the Home Assistant machine, in range of the heater during setup |
Five minutes, start to finish.
Set the heater up in the Adax Wi-Fi app first, so it shows online in a room. Then:
Find your Account ID
In the Adax Wi-Fi app, open the Account tab. Your Account ID is the number shown between the Log out and Close account buttons.
Create an API password
Still in the Account tab, go to Third party integrations, then Remote API, then Add Credential. Give it a name such as Home Assistant and copy the password it generates. This is not your Adax login password.
Add the integration
In Home Assistant, go to Settings, then Devices & services, then Add Integration, and choose Adax. Pick the cloud option.
Enter the details
Enter the Account ID and the API password. Each room in your Adax app appears in Home Assistant as a thermostat, with an energy sensor for each heater.
Give it a minute
Changes you make travel through Adax’s cloud, so allow a minute or two for a new setpoint to reach the heater before deciding something is wrong.
No cloud, no app.
Local control suits people who want their heating to keep working on the home network with no internet dependency. Home Assistant’s documentation describes the process like this:
Check your hardware
The machine running Home Assistant needs a Bluetooth adapter, and the heater needs to be within Bluetooth range while you set it up.
Reset the heater
Press + and OK on the heater until the display shows Reset.
Put it in pairing mode
Press and hold OK until the blue LED starts blinking, then press Submit in Home Assistant. It can take several minutes.
Our recommendation.
Go cloud.
It takes minutes, the Adax app keeps working for everyone else in the house, and you get per-heater energy data in Home Assistant’s Energy dashboard.
Go local.
If you want your heating to keep running with the internet down, and you are happy to give up the app and energy figures, local is the cleaner setup.
Start cloud.
You can always reset the heater and switch to local later. Going the other way means setting the heater up in the app again.
Asked and answered.
Do I need a hub or bridge?
No. The Neo Wi-Fi connects straight to your home Wi-Fi, and Home Assistant’s Adax integration is built in.
Does Home Assistant work alongside Google Home or Alexa?
Yes, with the cloud connection. The heater stays on your Adax account, so the app, Google Home and Amazon Alexa carry on working as well.
Can Home Assistant show how much energy my heaters use?
Yes, in cloud mode. Each heater gets an energy sensor that feeds Home Assistant’s Energy dashboard, so you can track consumption and heating costs over time. The local connection does not provide energy data.
Which Neo models does this cover?
Any Neo Wi-Fi you can control from the Adax Wi-Fi app can be added with the cloud connection, whatever its height and whether it is wall mounted or on legs. Local control needs a model with Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi.
Is Adax Home Assistant support official?
The Adax integration is part of Home Assistant itself and uses the open API Adax publishes for its Wi-Fi heaters. Adax lists Home Assistant as a supported platform for its latest WT3 thermostat.
